Lake District Autumn gems 2 day workshop – maximum group of three, £280 per person
A favourite time of year for many photographers given the many varied opportunities, this workshop will take place over 2 full days. Based out of Keswick, we will be handily placed to cover a large swathe of the Lake District without too much travelling time.
Of course woodland colours are a major draw at this time of year, but that won’t be our only focus. The colours of the hills are also beautiful, and autumn conditions can offer some interesting atmospheric conditions – morning mists, unexpected bursts of sunlight on wet days.
I will choose locations based upon the expected weather conditions – for example wet cloudy days might not be great for grand mountain vistas, but are perfect for woodland wandering and waterfalls. I’ll try and throw in a few classics as well as a few less well shot but equally photogenic (or more so!) locations. I’ve been walking the Lake District for over 30 years, so if you’re a little unfamiliar with the area I can suggest plenty of locations for you to visit should you plan to extend your stay beyond the duration of the workshop.
Whilst we won’t be scaling any of the higher fells (unless all group participants are up for it) and extended walking will be kept to a minimum, we may end up atop a couple of some of the lower fells, so you should be reasonably fit and used to regular walking and being on your feet all day. We will generally be out shooting for most of the day, with breaks for refreshments, lunch (and breakfast if a very early start is necessitated) etc during the day. The emphasis will be on flexibility to make the most of the conditions.
The workshop will be limited to a group of three for maximum personal tuition, and is suitable for beginner and intermediate photographers. I can offer as much or as little help as you need, whether you prefer to have someone over your shoulder or just wander freely around each location we visit.
There will be an optional little review session at the end of the second day should you wish to go through any of the images taken, and I am happy to offer email feedback or support for a period after the conclusion of the workshop should you have any additional queries.
Please note accommodation IS NOT provided within the price. This is to keep things flexible depending on your preferred choice of luxury at the end of the day, and also to keep the cost of the workshop down for those that would prefer cheaper accommodation.
Keswick has a wide range of accommodation from camping and hostels to B&Bs, guesthouses, pubs and hotels, and I will pick you up from your lodgings on both mornings.
The cost for two full days tuition is £280 per person, with an initial £100 deposit required to secure your booking. The remainder of the cost will be due four weeks prior to the start of the workshop.
