Ok, I’m a photographer who lives in the Lake District. There aren’t many mornings where I don’t have to pinch myself just to make sure it’s all real.
But now and then a stupidly fun job comes along. And so a couple of weeks ago I found myself in a helicopter with Leo Houlding as we hitched a ride to the top of Pavey Ark.
It was all to do with the Cordon Rouge Club and their mentorship competition, the winner of which had won a couple of days training in the Lakes with Leo and Charley Boorman (who was in the second run of helicopter taxi rides).
The weather cooperated for a fun day around the Langdale Pikes, but despite the novelty of seeing the Lake District from the air, I can honestly say walking the fells is much more rewarding experience.
I didn’t say more fun, just more rewarding 😉
