Lake District Photography courses: Workshops and Photo Walks

Cumbria in winter with Mark Littlejohn, February 2018 – now booking!

One to one workshops on a date of your choosing

I am now running photography workshops in the Lake District, and can provide one to one (or one to two) tuition on a full or half day basis on a date convenient for you.

A one to one workshop tends to provide maximum benefit and dedicated tuition time, however you are welcome to bring along a friend or partner.

Workshops will be tailored to suit individual requirements and abilities, whether you are a complete beginner or a more experienced photographer with a good base level of knowledge looking to take your photography a step further.

Given the ‘in the field’ nature of the workshops you will be on your feet for most of the duration, and you should expect some low level walking, so you should be reasonably fit.

For anyone with a passion for the higher level Lake District scenery, I am also happy to choose mountain top terrain should you wish, though this is more suitable for full day workshops given the time constraints.

The workshops are ideal for those with a love of the Lake District in general, and have an interest in improving their photography in a relaxed and informal environment. The day will be taken entirely at your own pace amongst some of the finest scenery in the country.

If you want to cover a particular location or mountain area this can be arranged, however I have been walking the Lake District fells for almost 30 years and will happily put together an itinerary if you have no preference as to location.

You don’t need to own a high end digital SLR, but you should have a camera with some manual or semi manual modes, ie the ability to take control over aperture, shutter speed, ISO etc.

Half Day Workshops

A half day (approx 4 hours) costs £80, or £120 for two people, and can take place at any time during the day – for example an evening session can be timed to catch sunset.

Full Day Workshops

A full day (approx. 8 hrs, though this may be limited by hours of daylight during winter months) costs £150, or £200 for two people.

Please contact me for a quote for larger group sizes.

Wild Camping Workshops

For those looking for a more committed photographic adventure, why not try a wild camping workshop?

Nothing beats waking on a mountain with lighting conditions most people never get to see, views no 5 star hotel in the world could beat, the added bonus of no fellow guests, and help capturing it all successfully on camera.

However, the success of these little adventures can be very weather dependent, so it’s best to have a couple of dates in mind before you book.

The tutorial is all about the photography aspect of the experience, so you will need your own tent and camping gear and ideally have wild camped before –however, if you have the gear but haven’t had the nerve to go out on a wild camping trip, this could be for you.

A 2 day/1 night workshop with an overnight camp on the fells costs £175, or £220 for two people. This typically includes a late afternoon walk to the chosen camp, catching the evening light and hopefully a dramatic sunset and sunrise the next morning before heading back down to civilisation.

To book a workshop, choose from the drop down box below and then email or phone 07872 429826 to arrange a mutually convenient date, and feel free to contact me if you have any queries before booking.

If you would like to give the gift of  a workshop for a special occasion, you can purchase one via the gift vouchers page.
