The full schedule of photography workshops and photo walks for 2014 has now been finalised, and you can see the full list below.
The majority of these are based in the Lake District, however I’ve also added in some dates for Scotland and there may be more of these appearing depending on demand. Keep an eye on the news page or sign up to the newsletter for updates.
The photo walks are a mixture of low and higher level walks amongst some of the Lake District’s finest scenery, with plenty of guidance from me as to how to capture the best shots along the way.
Though the photo walks and workshops are both intended to be relaxed, informal and enjoyable, as should be the case in such wonderful landscapes, the walks by their very nature are a little less photographically intensive than the workshops.
They are still limited to a maximum of six people which will mean you will still get sufficient individual attention whatever your skill level.
For both the walks and the workshops you should ideally have a digital SLR (preferable) or equivalent (such as one of the more recent compact system cameras or bridge cameras) as compact point and shoots generally offer few options for taking any kind of manual control or creativity.
The photo walks cost just £40 per person, with the days lasting for approximately 5 hours, allowing ample time to leisurely complete the walk without rushing, as well as enjoying and exploring the area from a photographic point of view. I’ve devised these to take in a range of scenery from lakes to fells, rivers, waterfalls, woodland and even caves, so there should always be something that’s ideal for photographing whatever the weather.
Required fitness levels should be evident from the workshop description, but most of the photo walks will involve low level walking over a length of 4-5 miles on well constructed footpaths, so you will still need to be relatively fit and happy to be on your feet for the majority of the day even for those.
