Assynt Revealed

After a few days camping at low level in the wind and rain with not much else to see, I woke up at Achnahaird Bay on the fourth morning to clearing skies and, finally, a view of those wonderful isolated mountains.

Normally when viewed from one of the summits they get stacked up against each other, but the side on view from Achnahaird actually gives a better idea of the space between them.

That graceful swirl of cloud above the iconic outline of Stac Pollaidh forms the centrepiece, flanked by Cul Mor to the left and Cul Beag to the right, then on to Beinn an Eoin and Beinn nan Caorach.
