Despite losing the sun behind a large sheet of cloud after pitching my tent on the summit of Fleetwith Pike, I hadn't lost hope entirely of capturing something that evening.
It was all a case of staying with the camera set up and waiting, just in case there were any small gaps in the cloud close to the horizon.
A combination of hope, luck and preparation meant I was able to capture this burst of sunset at its peak. The whole thing lasted for maybe a minute, but I timed my exposure to get the 'starburst' effect at its most prominent as the sun centred itself in the tiny gap. August 2012.
