Glenridding Dodd and Helvellyn from Long Crag

Another piece of evidence in the mounting case that the best views of the bigger hills are to be had from smaller ones, this is the view from atop Long Crag above Ullswater on the lower reaches of Place Fell.

Upon arrival the blue sky wasn't offering too much in the way of atmosphere, but Helvellyn often produces its own cloud and soon enough a veil set in adding  a little more mood.

I'm not entirely sure where the little tree towards the bottom left was picking up its sunlight from, but it adds a welcome prick of light to the shadowy foreground.
