This is a beach I'd half had in mind to visit on the trip to Assynt last year, but ended up deciding it was a bit of an unnecessary detour and would be better off attended on an An Teallach excursion, of which there would be one.
Well, there has just been one. And I quickly fell in love with this beach. There may be a few in this region with slightly whiter than white sand, but I'll take the ever changing colours and textures here any time. Every time the tide advances or retreats it seems to result in fresh patterns. It's almost as good as working with windblown snow!
And of course the bonus in this area is you have mountains in the background. Here we look north to Coigach and Assynt. Suilven is the recognisable profile, but Quinag, Sgurr an Fhidhleir and Ben More Coigach are there, along with a tiny tip of Stac Pollaidh.
