As a route of ascent to Swirl How, the Prison Band is an enjoyable little rocky ridge with more to explore than you'd initially expect. There are good views over Levers Water to Coniston off to the left, but as is often the case whenever on their vicinity the Langdale Pikes draw the eye off to the right.
